And with climent chance there is the chance that Hull will get flooded. That why I am looking at moving to highter ground or leaving the UK, Aus and NZ are nice. To be honest it true what they say about Hull been unhealthy most people when you see them walking down the street have a sig in there hand.

WOW and they want to give a posative helth image of the city Sorry but that the last thing that this city has. Have you sean the amount of pubs and take out on beveley road and in the city center.

No wonder hull class as the obease capital of the uk.

Did you go to school in Hull?

Your spelling and gammer are rubbish and I know that Hull has some of the worst schools ... ha ha

Only joking. I've never been there, but a mate went to Uni there and said it was okay.

At one time hull had the most people per pub in england due to the council being very reluctant to issue new licences.
The council censorship of films was also responsible for 'The Life of Brian' not being screened when new. Not because of the arguments at the time over blasphemy like everywhere else, but that they wanted it to have an 'X' certificate due to the bad language but the cinemas wouldn't budge on whatever it had been issued with at the time.

On the spelling and gramer side I am dyslexic so well there you have it.

Fair enough.

So what's so bad about cycling in Hull then? I've heard it's flat as a pancake round there? Even Admin said he has to ride out of town to find a decent hill ... ;)

What bike have you got BTW?

Bet you're a FORD driver too ... lol ... everyone in Hull drives a Ford don't they?

Hull is actually ok for cycling in. Think the figures show higher cycle usage than most of the 'cycling cities'. Place is compact - a journey across town is only around 5 miles. There may well be econiomic reasons for it too. Council have put in lots of 20mph zones (more for the amount of road miles than anywhere else). I know of a cycle lane that is being relayed as its worn out.
There are a couple of flyovers if you're looking for something to cycle up. Head east and its flat, west takes you to the Wolds - which isn't. The ride over the bridge is worth doing too, as its the longest suspension bridge you can cycle over in the world.

I have never owned a Ford.

We lived in Barton (across the river) when I was a kid and my dad had a Fiat. It went like shoot off a shovel and rusted even faster.

Barton is quite pleasant. I used to live in Beverly and although Hull is never going to win European City of Culture, it does have a lot going for it. It is edgy, and the people are mostly honest. As someone else has commented, the Avenues are a pleasant area - nice cafes and architecture.

I have never owned a Fiat.

Well, that's bollocks.
Someone from Hull dislocated my spine in three places in 1994. He was not at all honest or pleasant.

I'm not sure if he had a Ford or a Fiat.

No ... I was six years old when we left. Although I've been back since and was surprised how much of the place I remembered. We lived at Rydall Mount on the Brigg Road.

I stopped in Hull once whilst  up the east coast and enjoyed the visit.
Memories of Hull,
A visit to the Hull trawler Arctic Corsair made very interesting by the guide who had sailed on the ship and was able to bring this museum ship to life.:smile:
Unable to find a place to have a quiet pint, every pub was vibrating with LOUD music.
The  of Hull were very scantily clad.
Some rascal had swapped over the hot and cold tap tops in my B&B.
I was wakened in the morning by the noises of bedroom gymnastics.
The landlady was very late in serving breakfast.
