My good lady is taking me for her 50th (I know, but I am skint at the mo') and we have 3 days in place I know nothing about. I don't like to zap about seeing a little of a lot, I like to amble/cycle about seeing a lot of a little, so, Palermo or Catania? Anybody been?

Both are pretty bustling towns (I slightly prefer Catania but Syracuse is my favourite!) if you want quiet stay somewhere like trabia, where you can easily get into Palermo but have quiet as well.

Out of those two it has to be Palermo, just on the basis of more to see. The architecture is staggeringly beautiful in places and worth visiting the bustling port, and of course the catacombs. Catania is dull by comparison.

Enjoy yourself. Here in meanwood Towers,my wife took all of us on a Titan 16 day tour of Canada,it was her retirement gift to herself and us.I did not want to go,it was a coach trip.We had an argument over cost,i lost.I had to eat the biggest piece of humble pie.42 people on a coach trip and it was stunning from start to finish. My jaw ached from being gobsmacked.

Fly in the morning, we'll be taking in Syracuse but staying in Catania (I don't like quiet) and we'll give Palermo a miss. Have noticed Catania are at home to Torino on Sunday, just thinking about how to approach the subject............
