I too observed the silence, but was driving on the motorway so couldn't pull over, remembrance day does really mean alot since I did some family history research and found that due to world war one and two virtually the whole male line on the paternal side were killed, a whole two generations wiped out, I went to one memorial in France one year, it was a shock how hard it hit home to see your surname on a plaque, from an ancestor who disappeared in the mud in 1918, never to be seen again.
I'm certain that every family in Britain was affected by WW1, we should never forget them.
