I had a biker join me in the ASL box at the front of a queue of traffic in porstmouth, he flipped up his lid and he started the conversation as follows:
"Ere, mate, you ain't gonna beat me on that y'know!"
"No, I know. I ride a motorbike myself though."
"Y'wot? Why iz you on that poxy thing then, innit?"
"Because I like to keep active and healthy."
"Naaaaa mate, all that lark's fer nonces!"

Lights changed and off he went. That just about sums up the attitude to many people in the UK towards exercise .... and here we are with the highest obesity level in Europe ...

Guy at work said something similar, along the lines of "exercise is bad for you" too. I challenged them to an arm wrestle, they declined.

Where as I'll say

"You have a nice day too, I'll give you a cheery wave if I'm out on my c90, the world's most popular motorcycle...which is ridden
by the nicest people and I see you ... oh, and did I mention that I've passed my motorbike theory test? "

Have you taken and passed your 'A1' or 'A' license at all Thomas?
[/quote]

Or have you passed the advanced driving, motorcycle, and police response and initial pursuit test?

No, hence I make a joke about having passed a theory test....

There's no point me doing it until summer, when I turn 21 and therefore can do DAS and won't be restricted for 2 years.

Why?

I had a similar response once from a motorcyclist. I was going round a corner on a country lane in primary, potholes to the left and to discourage any overtakes. After the corner I moved back to secondary and a motorcyclist passed me indicating that I should have ridden in the gutter. I think I was in his racing line!

No I have not, but then again I'm not an ex copper trying to score points.

Just wondering, don't make the mistake of going out and buying a mid range sports bike once you have done.

Or an experienced lorry driver trying to score points?

Fair enough. The video isn't really criticising him as a learner, but someone who shows an ignorance to the rules of the road with some comic effect.

For now I'm quite happy with my C90. It's near enough impossible to get caught speeding, and the few times I've done something a bit silly due to my lack of experience it has all been very controllable due to lack of power.

Never stalled it though...but being semi-automatic it would be very hard

Why not? The throttle isn't an on-off switch is it?

A friend of mine passed his DAS and bought a Triumph tripple, he's not come to any grief on it, nor has he been pulled for / flashed for speeding offenses etc

I think that it is usually best to follow the Reggie Perrin (Rositer) way and to remember to think Hippopotamus and smile rather than say Hippopotamus and think smile.
Helps the day to go better
