Silly question

Just bought a Kryptonite U-lock with an extension cable. And I know it might sound funny, but what's the extension cable for and how do I use it?

To loop through the wheels.

Don't - it will be snipped through in a trice - they are useless. Take front wheel off and lock to rest with D lock.

It's quite easy to lock a bike to a sheffield stand by passing the D-lock through the front wheel (without removing it) and the frame and (of course) the sheffield stand. This fills the lock (mine is an Abus Granit x double plus good) as well. From experience, I have come to realise that I am the only cyclist in the whole world who does this.
