Simple mid week supper

The Times supper suggestion was predicated on getting some exotic cous cous from Waitrose - so no chance there. Instead, a brace of pheasants from Steve the butcher, streaky on top. Cook slowly in foil for moisture and tenderness, jumbo thickness game chips, bread sauce, tuiles of fried bread, carrot esplanade, peas and Cumberland jus. Caramelised pineapple, followed by a cheese board of three very nice cheeses bought in the Cotswolds on Saturday.

PS Blasting and bloody does not work with most game.

That might require photographs.

This evening we had torn roast chicken in a light stock flavoured with a medley of root vegetables and aliums

Of course it does, it wouldn't get to your table dead otherwise.

tonight I had butternut squash, peppers and small onions, simmered in a light vegetable stock until they were just cooked and then, gently transferred to a food processor where I blended until a smooth consistency was obtained. Served with a dusting of black pepper.

Or as us Slimming World types like to think of it. Squash soup.
I really wish I had the time to tart about in the kitchen, but I don't. Bikes to ride, dogs to walk and guitars to play. Shame, I like cooking but can't be doing with too much in the way of a faff.

I did a soup too tonight... Carrot, sweet potato and ginger. Really good with some croutons made from slightly stale bread soaked in olive oil and baked for 10 mins while just waiting for the carrots to soften.
Someone call @threebikesmcginty , it's all getting a bit poncey in here...

I'll give that a go tomorrow night, I think. I have ginger. I am only short of the carrots and sweet potato, but a quick run up to Lidl should remedy that. Not doing the croutons though. I'm trying to stay in shape and not go for a new shape.
