He was 15 years too early the first time round. He's 15 years too late this time round.

The whole "green" thing has pretty much been debunked these past 10 years or so, and whilst some people are still making notible efforts to move us away from reliance on fossil fuels, most people don't care so long as their life isn't directly affected, and they've stopped believeing all the "earth is dying" mumbo jumbo.

Good luck to him, but it'll only ever be a "fad".

Another factor with the C5 the first time around - one often ignored - was the state of the roads on which it ran.

Now that all roads are smooth as a billiard ball with never a rut, crevice, pothole, raised manhole, sunken manhole, squashed beercan (squashed hedgehog, for that matter) or broken drain cover to be seen, the rejuvenated C5 will surely fare better.

(Oh - time for my tablet already, nurse?...)

I do remember in the early 80's when working in the West End of London regularly seeing a courier chappy using one.

Pity no-one has designed it... no storage, wheels could have been larger, enclosure could have been much more streamlined, no lights [at least you can't see them?].

If it looked cool and sophisticated then it may have been viable. As it is it's a cross between a Reliant Robin and a clumsy bicycle.

I'm sure all the lycra'd dandies on skinny-tyred road bikes will agree.

+1 - I'm afraid!!!!

I'm a long time admirer of Sir Clive and would love one of his ideas to make him respected - instead of being viewed as just another eccentric British inventer.

A couple of years ago I worked closely with the company that built the electric motors for his "Zike" pictured below.

Clive is a Brit legend, without him we wouldnt have games consoles imo, or they would be vastly different. We wouldnt have those velomobiles either imo.

I think its largely the Brits trying to knock people that have lead to this anti-sinclair nonsense. I feel a bit sorry for him as a result, and the car-centric Uk aint going to help matters.

Having said that I think he's missed several opportunities in the design..
