Her Maj dishes them out to peeps who her peasantry like....by keeping the peasants happy, the monarchy remains secure....woe betide any monarch who pisses orf the great unwashed...so yes, he will get one, but only after he gets sports personality of the year, which operates on a similar principle.
Speaking as an unwashed peasant I think he should get one.

We need positive role models for young unwashed peasants, and what better a role model for following your dreams, than peasant Murray...arise Sir Andy..bloody well done mate!!

Not impressed by the system but we have it, and top sports-people get honours. Andy Murray is clearly in that category, but isn't it normal for a lower status award to be given at his present stage and if appropriate the knighthood towards or at the end of the main career.

For a knighthood before he retires shouldn't we expect all four grand-slams in the same year while holding the Olympic title as well! An OBE should be quite enough for now.

Can't see anyone else getting a look in at SPOTY this year.

I remember the nursery assistant who fended off a machete attack at the playgroup. She received the George Medal, the highest award for bravery that a civilian can be given.

She is worth all the film stars and sportsmen with Knighthoods.

It reminds me of Wiggo last year. He wins the biggest prize in his sport, and people immediately starting arguing about Knighthoods and the godawful Sports Personality of the Year award, both of which are trifling compared to the achievement itself.

Lisa Potts. I remember it well, happened not far away.

Knighthoods are awarded to those who are not worthy of either the Victoria Cross, George Cross, Order of Merit or Fellowship of the Royal Society.

Some individuals are intelligent enough to see through the Honours System, and decline.
eg. Francis Crick.

OBE's,MBE's,CBE's or whatever aren't too bad as they don't go before the name, but Sir Andy Murray sound like something he should be called in 30 years time(if he does well), not now! Anyway, they're a bad omen look how "Sir Bradley" has fared since he was gonged.
