One stamp in the heat of the moment , just think Brian O,driscoll is a brilliant centre and is a pleasure to watch. good leadership skills and cant see him being not in the running for the lions. Lets be fair he destroyed Wales with his skills and unfortunately I was there lol

a captain should know better then and be able to restrain himself. thats why Sam shouldn't be captain after his silly tackle in the RWC.
which is a pity as both would be stunning captains but the discipline lets them down

Surely not so happy with the way they lost as they had the grand slam to play for!! just outgunned in every dept apart from a good defence as the bone crunching tackles were from both sides.

They didn't 'lose', User - England were absolutely stuffed in a game of rugby. Stuffed, trussed and binned. Brilliant exposition of powerful rugby teamwork from Wales. As this side is considered 'developing' then it might be fair to expose other potential team members to the 'white heat' of competition as early as possible. Chris Ashton being replaced may be a start, although he might well be a catalyst for the other team players...just not performing himself. With GPS, other analysis, the eagle-eye of the media on everyone, club competition and whatever other pressures, the modern rugby 'performer' has a lot on his plate.Good luck to all the teams in building for the future...last weekend, Italy was the only result that went according to my notional 'bias' - Italy, England & Scotland were my hopes...

England are squawking about the referee now! Got to admit, I think Steve Walsh is a prize pillock, but England were so comprehensively duffed up by the Welsh, I don't think the ref had a great deal to do with it. Can't England put any complaints they've got in private - this just makes them look like poor losers.

England have acknowledge that the ref didnt cost them the game, but I think he did affect the margin of victory.
I think they are looking ahead to the 2015 world cup, where they are in a pool of death with Fiji, Wales, Aus and England.
They want to make sure they know what is expected of them specifically at the scrum and breakdown for these crucial games.
There is a real possibility that England could go out at the pool stages in their own country.

Fair points, especially in relation to S Hemisphere refs who don't seem to think that rugby should involve competition for possession. I do think though that they could better have put any criticism in private. Their complaints, now made public, will be reported in every rugby country as yet more evidence of English arrogance. Seems to me a basic lack of PR management.

It's many years since I felt I had any real understanding of the rules - blowups for things like failing to release (how could he? He had half a dozen Welshmen lying on the ball!) or failing to roll away (how could he? He had half a dozen Welshmen lying on him!) almost always amaze me.
Having said which, it did seem to me during the England match that the ref was penalising England far more than a) merited, and b) Wales. (They conceded more penalties in the first quarter than in the whole Italy game; I didn't see that they were doing anything much differently.) Having said which, while it may have affected the margin of victory, it didn't really make that much difference. England didn't get stuffed by poor refereeing but by a manifestly superior team.
And having said all of that, I'm not sure the rest of the rugby world will see bleating about referees as arrogant. Just as pathetic.

I'll have to take your word for it. When I saw that Walsh was the ref, I had to turn the tele off.
I think it was pretty clear that the England front row didn't know what they were doing wrong, despite the lecturing Walsh was giving. They were baffled. I even reckon part of the reason that Joe Marler was subbed off was in an attempt to stop the infringements. Didn't work. It goes deeper than the players though I reckon.
Graham Rowntree (forwards coach) was equally baffled. It's possible he's coaching his forwards incorrectly. In that context, I think it understandable that the England team seek clarification of the rulings. That's not complaining, nor sour grapes.
I don't understand many of the rules of the game (particularly relating to forward play) and I suspect I am not alone in that. That said, it seems as though there is misunderstanding within the game itself. Perhaps it's time for the IRB to look at some of those rules and how they are applied with a view to ironing out the differences.

Hey everyone seems to have forgot England were going for the Grand Slam ! so as a team think they deserve some merit for getting there, also they beat the All Blacks, so yes they were stuffed by Wales but they will bounce back rest assured. [ MY DAD WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF ME HERE HE WAS FROM NORWICH LOL } mum from Wales.miss them both, cant wait to see the lions selection !
