Don't half make a difference.
Gone from 37's to 28's which are a lot slicker. All for £26 for the pair to.
Bearing in mind it was windy and I am not feeling 100% I pretty much matched my best ever time coming home on the Hybrid.

It's so quicker too.

Seriously though 28 and under there aint much in it. Just a little bit more cushioning.. though not that much. I dont think theres much point putting skinnies on a non-roadbike or lightweight hybrid. If you've got full sus theres certainly no point.

I've got a better idea. Change the hybrid for a proper road bike, and you'll see an even bigger speed increase, IMO.

You give a proper road bike and i will , no chance of buying one as it looks like we will still be on short time at work for another year .................

When my Michelin 23's wore out, I fitted a pair of Schwalbe 23's.

The number on the tyre may have been the same, but the Schwalbes are MUCH thinner and a LOT faster!

I had 40s (semi slick Kendas) on my hybrid. Awful. Slow and p*ncture prone.

Changed to Michelin City 35s. Much better and so much quicker. Could go to a 28 but I'm spending so much on tyres I might as well buy a road bike!

If you want to go fast you need a racer, preferably fixed gear, and tyres around the 20-23 mark pumped to 100psi+. There is No Other Way. Here endeth today's lesson.

Anyone know of some decently thin 26" tires? I've got 1 1/8 conti slicks on at the mo, but it's still 5mm wider than I'm used to on my old roadbike!

THin tires are the way to go for road riding.
