Skoda Yeti 1.2 Tsi Elegance?

I know there are quite a few Yeti owners on here, so I'm after peoples thoughts of the 1.2 Tsi engine.

Even if you've got a 1.2 Tsi Fabia, Polo, Seat, Audi etc, etc, your thoughts would be welcome, I just don't anything about that engine TBH.

As my wife only drives around town, we thought the 1.2 Tsi would be the ideal frugal engine on her Seat.

However, around town, the MPG is pretty poor. I think mostly because she has to put the foot down to get anywhere at any sort of reasonable speed.

To put it kindly, it seems underpowered!

Thanks for the reply, it contradicts what someone else has told me but that's life eh? ;)

This is for my Dad's next car TBH, and his current car, which is a diesel, has only done 8.5k in 2.5 years! So there's really no point in him paying a premium for a diesel IMO.

He's going to need to test drive them I know, but in the meantime any other opinions are welcome

Hers is a Seat Altea. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from it.

The biggest disappointment was the MPG, but I think thats more to do with her driving style than anything else. I guess if your dad drives like a nun, the MPG would be better.

Any chance we could do some old Skoda jokes like, why do Skoda's have heated rear windows - to keep your hands warm when you're jump starting them?
Go on then if it makes you happy ;) But @skudupnorth will be along to defend their honour, you have been warned ^_^

What do you call a Skoda with a sun roof ?

A skip

'Ditto', our second car, a 1.0litre Panda ('61' plate)
Gutless, thirsty, even in a little body-shell like that

I wanted a Fabia 1.2Tdi, but the deals on the Panda at the time were too good to miss (£5799 drive away!)

I'm definitely with 'skud'

Our primary car is a ('11' plate) Octavia Tdi estate

The only replacement in my mind is another Octavia, or a Superb

I turn my back for a minute !!! Skoda's rule...end of !!!!! Customers I dealt with before I finally jumped out of the motor trade were happy with the 1.2 tsi lump even in a big car like the Yeti. The new, small engines cope well with modern needs and fuel economy,The only issue I noticed with new Skoda's were the latest RS versions where warranty were replacing engines because of burnt out valves and other nasties ! I will stick with my wonderful, cheap and mega low maintenance 1996 Favorit hatch which IF I ever need to repair it, I can do so on my drive for very little ££££££.....................unlike my VW Touran which is now in the garage waiting to give me a nasty bill because it is a modern that cannot be fixed on the drive !! Heated rear windows.....Pah ! They were rear engined, they had warm rear lids ..............................RELIABLE REAR LIDS I MIGHT ADD !!! , Fur ruffled, you have been warned ;)
