Today on ITV4 from 8:00pm to 9:50pm
Fascinating documentary which looks back at the 1986 Tour de France. Great American cycling hope Greg Lemond was taking part with teammate, mentor and reigning champion Bernard 'The Badger' Hinault who promised to help his friend to win the world's greatest cycle race. But the Tour is a strange beast with many agendas and rife with internal politics, and promises can get lost in the heat of the race. Hinault was also a fierce competitor with a proud record in the sport. With contributions from all those involved including Hinault who tells his own side of the story along with some classic footage of the race. SUB

I just watched it and enjoyed it. It was interesting (I am not that familiar with the sport). Thanks for the heads up that it was coming on. The Wild Bunch is on now. Pretty good movie too.

I don't think anyone other than George Washington (allegedly) told all the truth all the time although this movie seemed to suggest that Lemond wore the white hat and Hinault the black one.
If anyone thinks they can win the TdF five times without being a game player, something that came up a lot in that movie, they are mistaken. Lemond too was playing the game.
