When I had my pet rabbits I used to find slugs in their food bowls every morning, so I used to sprinkle salt around the rabbit hutches and that stopped the slippery suckers getting in!! They just shrivelled up and died instead!

The garden at my last house was infested with the blighter's, my fully grown plants would be OK, got a bit tatty at times but no serious damage, if I planted any seedling I would have to use pellets or they would eat the lot. This place has never had a slug problem, when we moved in I noted the lack of slugs then a few weeks later I found out why, the garden was being visited by a large fat toad, I haven't seen the toad for ages but still rarely do I see a slug or snail.

When we lived in an outlying village there was never a slug problem but there was a well fed hedgehog family under the shed.
Now back in the city there are loads of slugs and snails in the garden. But not as many as the neighbors have. Heh.
You do know they are homing snails?;)

Cheap supermarket 49p a can stuff works. You wouldn't drink it. PS empty it out regularly, otherwise you end up with fermented rotting slug slush in the cups - it stinks

You wouldn't. Rich might.
