I make a gallon or two of sloe gin most years, and slider and sloe and vanila ice-cream. Raspberry whisky is also very nice, but the cheaper whisky the better, I normally buy whiskey rather than anything decent.
10 weeks is not really long enough, the sloes have to be in the gin for at least three months to get a good colour, and rested for three months to develop the full flavour.
I've a couple of kilo's of sloes in my freezer, along with blackberries and plums. I'm waiting on two gallons of grapejuice to finish so I can get on with that as well.
