Don't you run the risk if you're a little enthusiastic or inexperienced of disabling things like graphics cards and virus scanners by doing this?
Yes. Don't ask me how i know this.

Screen came and fitted, did a system restore back to when it was new instead of full Windows reinstall, running really quick for now, got rid of some of the guff programs that comes with a new laptop.
Connects to the internet cos I've update some of the drivers but explorer has page cannot be displayed message so can't download ccleaner, avast or malwarebytes.
Any idea's why?

Now the laptop I use to run Zwift won't boot up, turns on but doesn't get further than the screen showing Toshiba!!!!! I give up, do you think it might be because I haven't used it for a month or so?

Honestly. I've been fixing PCs for ten years and the only way to really get them to run 'as new' is to wipe 'em and reinstall. And its easier to do than ever these days.

Yes I'm with you on this. Despite good housekeeping things just get more and more congested, and the only real solution is a reinstall every few years. 2017 has been one of the few years, and I've done our 3 laptops & 1 desktop PC with excellent results. Just make sure you back up all your files & ensure you have installation links or CDs along with license numbers for all your software.
