Glad you're ok - I had one of these on my old bike, paying too much attention to a cyclist riding up the inside of me and not enough to the traffic ahead - lesson learned.
Sympatico Goo! I just avoided rear-ending a Merc this morning pulling away at a set of lights in similar circumstances.
I think there's a tendency to pile on the power when you're in a queue at the lights and things get moving, so it can be trouble when somebody in the queue stamps on the brakes.
Sadly, that's usually true, Postman. Drivers hate to see a free car-length space going begging in front of a cyclist and are only too keen to get into it, given half a chance !
Still doesn't excuse my avoidable error tonight though
