I sorted out some glitchlike and annoying noises and clunks on the fixie yesterday and took it for a short ride in the howling gales this morning.

The transmission felt like honeysoaked silk and the brakes (new Ultegra blocks on aged Exage calipers) felt factory-fresh and beautifully progressive.

There's little to sort on a fixie, but everything got a tweak and a smear of grease if necessary. The head bearings were adjusted and the bicycle seemed to appreciate the attention.

The work of maybe 30 or 40 minutes and it feels like a new bicycle.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Yep, nothing like a bit of TLC to give a bike a new lease of life. Currently doing a renovation job on my Tricross before taking it for a tour in a couple of weeks. Waiting for the new wheelset to arrive, then it'll be getting the parts already waiting to be fitted: new tyres, Koolstop brake pads, chain and cassette. Should do it for a good few thousand miles to come!

Just cleaning the bike and lovingly carressing the bottom bracket has the same effect. A hot shower is even more effective.
