My last two Fizik small saddle bags (I've got the special clip on the back of my saddle) have lasted 3 and 10 weeks respectively before the zips broke. First one got caught in my rubber gloves (learned a lesson there!), the second simply gave way.

Any other bags/brands you could recommend?

The specialized wedge is good. I have the medium size one. big enough to carry toools, tube etc but doesn't stick out from under the saddle. It has good waterproof zips and has been fine in the 4 years I've had mine. I just bought (yesterday) a Topeak Aeor wedge for my other bike. Seems to hold a bit more than the spesh but I can't comment on it's reliability

I've used Topeaks for a couple of years without any problems. They're the type that clip to the underside of the saddle and thus don't mark or damage your carbon seat post if you have one. They come in about four different sizes. I've a small one for training rides and a larger one for sportives. They're easy to interchange as the saddle clip fits both. The larger one also has two elastic straps underneath it which is handy for securing a rain cape or mini pump.

The strap on ones like the Specialized are better because they don't rattle - unlike the clip-on ones - you can pull the straps tight to prevent any movement

I have a small Trek one. Just big enough for a spare tube, multitool and tyre levers. Had it for about 3 years now and still going strong.

I also have a slightly larger Topeak one for longer rides when I need to carry more food. This has been OK too.

I've had a smallish one that fits under the saddle that I bought in a Giant shop and has Giant written on it as well. This has been used quite a bit over the last thre years and is still going strong.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another vote for the Topeak ones here, been using a medium one on my roadbike and large on my MTB for a couple of years with no problems at all. They come with funky little yellow rain covers (a bit like rucksack ones) so they stay dry when it's raining too!

I have two rather lovely, small Brooks leather saddle bags. Beautiful to look at and do fit all me stuff in there. I have both the 'Challenge' (fits multitool, VAR tool/levers, chain breaker tool, plus one inner tube and p' repair kit) and the D Shaped (fits same as before, but with two inner tubes), both in Black. http://www.brookssaddles.com/brooksengland.html - look under 'catalogue'/ 'bags' / 'saddlebags'.
Pricey though.

Not sure they'd look right on a nice carbon road bike though.

Another vote for the Specialised wedge. I went through quite a few bags including ToPeak and Trek. The type with the clip I hated - always broke or weren't secure. Couple of zips went. One Trek bag the stitching came apart.

The Specialised I've been using for a couple of years and it's a great piece of kit.

I have a Topeak medium Wedge. Am pleased with it. It holds 2 spare tubes (self sealers), a topeak multitool and my soma tyre levers. Also useful as it has reflective band on the back and a mounting strip for my Topeak Redlite.
