I just replaced the chain on a one year old touring bike and the I can't get the rear gears to bed in correctly. They can be made to work ok apart from when I get out of the saddle then they start to skip.

The normal advice is to replace the cassette with the chain but the bike has spent most of its life on the smaller rear cogs.

IIRC, the smallest 3 cogs on a 9 speed shimano LX cassette separate from the larger cogs. Can the smaller ones be bought individually ? I can't track any down online.

Oh typical, just found the answer since posting !

The magic keyword is "sprocket" and sjscycles have them. £3 upwards for a sprocket.
