Snake bite punctures

This is the secondary control measure for minimising the risk of snake bites, after having tyres at the 'right' pressure. Colin has pointed out that this is sometimes not easy, to which I'd add momentary lack of attention (eg distracted by cockpit devices, map or route notes).

If you get a snakebite without having noticed yourself hitting anything, it's not unlikely that you have the snakebite because your tyre had started to go flat, and you hadn't noticed yet.
It's worth checking the tyre fairly carefully for embedded sharps, otherwise you may just end up with another flat tyre after 20 or 30 miles.

I managed 65 miles today with no issues - so fingers crossed it was just bad luck!

I probably fubard the new tube installing it fixing the first puncture :-)

I have now made sure all the valve cores on my new tubes are tightened up too!
