Can I just see, over to the west, that Ireland is still green?

Brilliant picture anyway. Has one like that ever been taken before? When was the last time the UK had complete snow coverage like that?

Thats an irony....we have friends in N Ireland and it never ever seems to stop raining there, we're always taking the mickey when we talk to them.
By rights, they should be 20ft deep in snow.

Except, of course, this current weather is coming from the East (which is, I assume, why it's so cold), so the precipitation will have all been dumped on the more easterly areas and run out by the time it gets to the west. Normally, we get our weather from the west, so they get it first (and hence East Anglia is one of the driest regions).

They have certainly had some snow (though not as much as us) - was talking to one of my aunts only yesterday, who is avoiding going out as much as possible and dealing with burst pipes. My Dad always talks about the winter of 1962 (?) and having to dig through 6 ft of snow to get to the byre.

Great pic Stan!
My Dad never let me forget he had to wade through drifts to get to a phone to call the midwife in Feb '63 when I arrived!
