So glad to be living in Wales!

Welsh is a fine language, but I don't think particularly easier or harder for foreign learners than any other European language.

As for kids picking it up better before the age of 8, that goes for any language in the world - it's the kids not the language that are the factor here.

Speakers of many languages believe that theirs is uniquely beautiful/expressive/poetic/precise/hard for foreigners but these claims are impossible to measure and short on evidence.
But hey, I'm not knocking Welsh - Cymru am byth!

Dont worry. My understanding of welsh is appalling. I only understand around 30 words and 10 of them are the numbers 1 to 10. I wish I could speak the language.

all i am saying is it is all good and well reading these horror stories in the press and paper and online etc but every time my close family (household) and anyone in my family has gone anywhere near the NHS they have not had a problem!

i am now left wondering exactly what does 'cymraeg' mean? it seems to pop up rather regularly! is it just simply a place?

I am neither rude or obnoxious. I just hated every minute that I had to live in wales. It did nothing for me, it was just a complete sh*thole of a place. But then I did live in St.Clears & Laugharne.

I'm not Welsh, but moved here as an incomer just under 30 years ago and have been living here permanently for twenty years. I've lived in various places including other countries.

I absolutely love Wales, there is nowhere else on the planet I'd rather live than where I do now.

I've been once, about 5 years ago whilst working , went in along the top Prestatyn, Colwyn Way then went right round to Criccrieth, back home via Snowdonia. It was staggeringly beautiful, I never knew that, I loved it, t'was like I'd never left Yorkshire.

i guess at least welsh is easier than chinese and it doesn't even have male and female like french and german etc
this welsh language is starting to sound wellll toooooooo easy now!

nergh nergh survey says NO . it has no neuter gender. and I havent spoke fluent for 20 plus years but remember a lot of the basics.

Should be "Ddim siarad gymraeg".

The word "chwarae" means "play". "Siarad" means "speak" or "talk".

Also the C in Cymraeg is converted to a G to make it easier to pronounce. Apparently in comparison to English it's a very easy language to learn as it never breaks it's own rules and is phonetic. English on the other hand is meant to be very, very difficult to learn.
