So little roadkill this spring...

So very few tragic, flattened corpses.
Is this because there's so little fauna to squish now?

I see a few flattened Pheasants my way.
A dead Cat and a Sparrowhawk too the other day, which was sad to see.

Dead badgers all over Somerset. As for pheasants you just have to wait for them to run in front of you.

I've only seen a couple of dead badgers this year. I used to do 'three badger' rides five or six years ago. Their population must be dropping.

On the other hand our garden is proving to be an oasis for UK species whose numbers are dropping - sparrows, starlings and hedgehogs.

What I have noticed is what seems to be a large (relatively) number of dead birds on the roadside.

I think NT said he'd read something about some hedgehogs developing a 'run' behaviour instead of a 'curl up' behaviour, and of course if that's hereditary, it's good evolution for roads....

I see loads in Surrey! Rabbits, badgers, birds, sometimes deer! (But normally only in my course of work at nighttime)
I was commenting yesterday how many dead things I had seen recently.

I've seen quite a lot. Recently it has been mostly little rabbits but I have seen quite a lot of larger stuff that was unrecognisable.

Have see quite a few flat badgers and foxes on the roads, but also a lot of red kites around here to pick up the bits. Great to see so many of the fantastic birds around, but they can be a bit distracting to watch.
