Crikey I'd forgotten what a difference it makes, probably added a good 10 mins to my commute today.

Lots of yummy mummies dropping Jocasta and Josh off for their first day of secondary school, a pretty nastly looking car vs car on kings avenue in South London, and some lemming like peds.

Least I missed the rain shower though.....

AND I'm up early again so in work well before the bike park gets full.

Huge difference in traffic volume (not just the school run, people back in work now hols have ended etc) up in Manchester.

Everyone more impatient than they seemed over the summer too. Ho hum.

Yep. After WALKING Bolletta to school I'm re-acquainting myself the joys of cycling through the run. Think Luke Skywalker's attack on the death star.

Aren't they just...

Even more vigilent for the opening of the car doors parked across cycle lanes than usual this morning.

And yeh there were quite a lot of Yummies out ;-)

But it's so dangerous to let them be dropped further up the road, just think some idiot parent in a 4x4 could be parked on the hatch marks outside the school.

Have alway wondered what it would be like to go proper mental at a car doing this. Would it be the chatter of the school PTA for months of how Appleblossom's mothers car got every panel caved in by a cyclist's foot?

Even worse tomorrow in our area, as all the schools are back from Tuesday....

Standing traffic everywhere. Manchester Road backed up all the way to Cheadle this morning, so went the extra 4 miles into work instead, and then rode past another huge tail back on Paletine Road...what a shame.;)

Have you any proof that a higher proportion of 4x4 driving parents actually park on the hatching than those driving regular cars, or are you just applying a tired old cliche to a tired old subject matter which comes around every year ?

Oh goody - very-near's 4x4 mention-alert has gone off again. Does the man ever cycle, or does he just haunt these forums to jump on any mention of his precious mode of transport?

When 17, I do recall my driving instructor remonstrating with a Range Rover driver who had parked on a zig zag outside a school. The guy followed us as I was driving, got out at the next lights and started abusing the instructor. So the instructor got out and decked him. Not proof of anything as such but, extremely satisfying to experience first hand. ;)
