So, will they actually fit?
You don't mention what bike you have.
A lot of bikes can't take tyres much wider than originally fitted..
Looking at his avatar it's a Boardman team CX 2014

I have the same bike and have just switched to 32mm duranos from the 35mm knobblies. I'll ride the bike. This morning and report back. I'm hoping for good comfort but more speed. I went for 32s (over 28s) for aesthetic reasons, to avoid too skinny tyres in a chunky frame

Well, Alot of good replies from all of you here.

Very close to what Ajax suggested, my new tires are actually Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 32c;

I was hoping for replies somewhere between drawing from first-hand experience and factual debate, thankfully I have that all from you guys, as opposed to only Banjos forward answer.

Shaun, StuAff, Provided interesting insight in-particular

I've done 40 miles on these tires and they open up a range of options; they give off an adventurous feel that doesn't restrict me to stay on just roads.

They're alot more fun too, I'm worrying less about potholes (Which are a big problem here) and worrying less about going on main roads - because I can use tow paths past them.

They do not feel compromised either, as I was worried, they do not sacrifice the same amount of speed as they give in joy.

I spent alot of time choosing my tires, I wanted something that had the same tread-pattern as my Rubino pro tires (Which; i found work really well with the roads here) but something that had a lower TPI so they could stop getting cut to high-heck offroad. - With width past 28c .

These are the ones I found; they're on sale now for £11.95 Ea which is Very Cheap considering the quality, they're also very puncture resistant too.

They're also quite light, all-in-all I'm only 150 Grams (per wheel) heavier from my 700x25 with light 50g Innertubes.
This was helped by coupling my new tires with some vittoria light-innertubes that are 100 grams each for a size that accommodates my tire.

All-in-All I can not return to 25c at any point, I can say that they win entirely over a 25c - a 28c has the same qualities of the 32c, but, i'm looking to go slightly offroad and i'm a heavier rider, so they just help that little bit more over the 28.

So yes, my question was

"From a Road Bike Perspective - Does a 700x32c tyre bias comfort too much over speed? or is there little difference between either comfort or speed in relation to a 700x28c tyre of the same kind."

and with that in mind, I don't feel any speed penalty for all the joy it gives, - But, that said, the tires I did choose are more important than the width, you can get harder rolling, heavier 32c tires that I'm sure would give a speed penalty in terms of feel - So its important to find a good tire -a Good 32c tire can easily outperform a poor quality 28/25c tire in every single category.

I've got this bike

Comes fitted with 32mm tyres as standard. Not noticed any difference in speed. I've just this last week tried it with some 28mm zaffiro pro slicks. If I'm honest didn't notice any difference at all, either in comfort or speed. So will probably just put the original ones back on.
