Im pretty lucky as im not prone to colds, chest infections and the like but i have had proper flu twice in my lifetime and never ever want it again.

I think if the Doctor is actually offering it to you there is a reason and he/she probably thinks that you may be suitable for it for some reason so i would take it. They don't offer things like this lightly as its all costs.

Same here. For one of those bouts I ended up sleeping downstairs for a week cos I didn't even have the energy to crawl upstairs

Going for mine next week had it last year without any problems and don`t want to risk getting flu again ever. I also had a pneumonia injection last year arm a bit tender for few days but nothing else and you only need it once to cover you for rest of life, it has to be worth one sore arm for that.

Indeed, it's an inert vaccine. It can not give you the flu.

I'm definitely having the jab, I'm just trying to figure out what date I had the jab last year.

I do think that if we all took less pills and jabs and worked on building our immune systems through diet and exercise it would be better, but I'm just one in 60 million so.....I'll get the jab
Yes, it would be better - in fact we could probably halve the NHS spend after a few years; but that would require people to take personal responsibility.
For people who are 'at risk' flu can be a serious - even fatal - disease. I have a lifetime of exercise and good health but that hasn't stopped me being mildly asthmatic in my 60s.

I qualify medically for the free one on 2 counts, wife on one, so we get the jab in October. The queue moves at walking pace with at least 6 jabbers doing 2 a minute.

I've had them ever since they've been available, through work originally, and haven't had a full-on dose of flu during that time. Had it a couple of times before then and don't want it again.

Any vaccination that's recommended - I'll have it. Some have short term side effects but the diseases they prevent are (anagrams alert) vile and evil, and if you get them you may not live.

i was diagnosed with asthma earlier this year. Personally i think thats wrong, but i do 'suffer' in the cold damp winter sea air here....but then again so does most of the town.
