Not too good here.

Lots of roads have suffered erosion of the surface - lots of 'stones' outside the wheel tracks on side streets, lots of pot holes appeared...

Going to be 'interesting' when I go back to work next week.....

Don't fancy the expense of another busted wheel........... last winter wrote a rim off !

How has your area faired ?

I have driven on some of my normal commuting roads this week and there is a lot of damage, some major pot holes have appeared near me.
Will have to be very careful for a few days until I have memorized where they all are

because I doubt there will be a big rush to fix anything now.

It doesn't look too bad from a pot hole point of view but it does look as if the surface is broken and will rapidly develop into potholes. Main problem is that we still have quite a bit of winter months to go yet so we are not out of the woods yet.

A couple of huge craters have appeared on one of my training loops. They are so vast you would like to think the council will get them repaired in double quick time before a bus disappears down one!!!

The roads are not bad now that the snow has finally gone. However the roads are bleedin' filthy. It needs a good long bout of heavy rainfall to give them a clean.

I've done a couple of rides in the past few days and they didn't seem too bad. The recent cold snap doesn't seem to have had any effect.

Dreadful. Last year's half-arsed road repairs are falling apart already and potholes and cracks are breeding everywhere, some of them quite nasty.

Roads round here are not too bad. There are more lengthwise cracks than potholes. The cracks are wide enough to swallow a wheel tho'

As prev posters have said, the roads are filthy and need a good washing with heavy rain.

Just wait until they open up fully, they never really repaired them around here last winter

Funny you should mention roads Fossy because i've just completed the haircut run from Bolton to Timperley ( don't tell Potsy ! ) and back home and i cannot believe how bad the potholes have gone ! Some real juicy ones just before the Barton swing bridge then along past the Trafford centre it's a bit ropey. The best bits are along the Chester road though, that is one rough road for bikes (and cars for that matter) The best bit of tonights ride was the Trans Pennine trail which was very smooth but totally black due to pea soup fog !

I wonder if we can claim damage to our bikes from the council like some of my customers do when they damage their wheels on the potholes. It is up to them to keep the roads in a safe manner for all road users and they don't seem to mind taking that council tax off us each year.....or was it road tax ???

On my commute through Mottram St Andrew saw a massive water filled hole just around a corner which if I was coming home in the dark I would have hit. Made mental note to self before coming home that night and went primary around the corner rather than close to the hedge to make sure I was well clear of it. Definitely appeared post the freeze. Lots of other deterioration particularly around patch repairs in the road surface. Worries me that there are still a lot of roads that have not been sorted since the bad freeze of last year.

Main roads have clearly favoured worst.

Yes you could claim damage to your bike.

Been out today and done a little over 20 miles with my brother and have to agree that the big freeze has not been kind to the roads around here. Rode from Dukinfield through Stalybridge, Millbrook, Wellyhole, Uppermill, Dobcross, Delph, over Scouthead then Austerlands and Lees before heading back to Dukinfield via Hurst Cross and Ashton. Even the main roads we used were in a poor state and my Bro wanted to try my new hybrid so I did most of the ride on his road bike with drop handlebars and this confirmed that an out & out road bike is not for me (bro loved the hybrid though  ).

Bit of an understatement here Fossy, some roads were absolutely covered with gravel once off the driven line...

Will have to be very careful for a few days until I have memorized where they all are because I doubt there will be a big rush to fix anything now.
You're a better man than me if you can remember where all the holes are!

Found myself in the 'dirty zone' on more than one occasion. In places this was more than 2ft wide along the side of the road and when encountered at junctions or bends the layer of sludge could be a little worrying in case it was slippy.
