Did a 20 mile run today and rode some of my commuting roads, loads of gravel and some really big pot holes. To be honest I am glad that when my commuting road bike was written off by somebody not looking before they pulled out of a junction I used the insurance money to buy a tourer as it can cope with these roads a lot better and does not seem that much slower.
I'm using my Edinburgh Bike Co-op tourer till the roads are better. It seems to be able to cope with just about anything. Still weighs a ton tho'

my roads are black/grey and full of potholes

Bit worried about the state of the roads for my comeback commute tomorrow, especially as I'll be going both ways in the dark.
In two minds whether to use the hybrid with 28's and M+ in case of an unexpected hole or two.

Roads around here are now all clear from the last snow but are filthy and covered in grit/salt which has given me one puncture already. It also seems that the repairs to pot holes from last year have come undone so cauiton is advised.

Many of the roads around Derby were like the surface of the moon after last winter, and hadn't improved much over the year. Haven't ridden there since the cold set in (have been on hols since it started to melt). Starting my commute again on Tuesday should make for some interesting riding!

So had my first ride in this year today, and while a hole I reported a few weeks back has now nicely been filled in, a gigantic hole has appeared on this road which as you can see from the Google Streetview link is pretty much always completely knackered.
