So what's the best cycle rucksack then?

DHB Elsted 30L, great rucksack IME. Plenty big enough, more pockets than I know what to do with, takes a 2 litre bladder for hydration and it's comfortable to wear as well.

I can't quickly find a link to the Elsted 30L. It may be NLA TBH, I don't know, shame if it is though as it's a cracker, although I suspect it may have been replaced by the SLICE.

depends what you want it for really. My favourite is a targus padded laptop and A4 files one. because that is what I tend to carry most often on my back. it has a good yoke and padded straps too so is comfy as a normal rucksack but space is limited and badly proportioned for non worky stuff.

I like the look of this one, although it's pricy, but it does come in colours other than black which is a plus.

This is cheaper buy much...only it's black...equals invisable at times..
I'm going to use it on a Le Jog ride ..it only needs to carry spar cycle kit, jacket, toothbrush etc and maybe a pair of civi jeans..
One concern I have is the waist straps...are they big enough...guess I need to get into a shop and try these on somewhere.

FWIW I have a Deuter Race EXP air which I'm very happy with. It has a mesh which eits on your back with a gap between the mesh and the rucksack back which means far less of a sweaty back.

If you're doing LEJOG, might I suggest ditching the rucksack idea and seeing how much you can fit on your bike. It will be much more comfortable. Get a front (and possibly rear) triangle bag for the frame, a big saddle bag (or get a seatpost rack) and, if needed, a handlebar bag.

I travelled back from edinburgh to manchester over 3 days using my rear cycle pockets, a front triangle bag and a big saddle bag. I took a spare pair of duds, a toothbrush and paste, a pair of shorts, a cycling top and my general cycling stuff (tools etc). I washed my kit each night in the b&b's.
