The gist of the story is that Clarkson has published his bank account number in his regular column in whatever newspaper it is, in an attempt to show that the current hysteria over lost CDs with the personal details of everyone in Britain is a gross overreaction. Cue a reader almost immediately setting up a £500 direct debit from Clarkson's account to a diabetes charity.
