I get so fed up of all these sofa ads. How often do real people change their sofas? I bought an Ercol Old Colonial sofa (the carved jobbie) in 1996 in the sale (as usual) and I've still got it. I bought a previous model, not so luxurious which when I bought it was about 15 years old, needed restringing and re-cushioning. I probably could have bought a new one for same price but it wouldn't have been so good. I've still got that one too. My first one needs cleaning and possibly new foam now but I'm certainly not going to buy a new sofa! And as Arch says, why for Christmas?

I suppose actually it's only for Christmas in the autumn months. After Christmas it'll be 'in the sales' and then it'll be 'Spring Bonanza', and 'Summer Discounts' and then we're round to 'in time for Christmas' again. It's just a desparate attempt to make everyone get new sofas every year.

FTFY...

And yes, I'm fairly sure that Mr SHK and I fall into a very small minority of people who actually do not possess any form of seating and need to have some in time for Christmas

I'm also hoping for the 'buy once last a lifetime' approach (same as my recently purchased appliances) rather than 'buy cheap and get a new one every few years'.
My parents and my in-laws both have sofas that predate myself and Mr SHK. Indeed my parents inherited a sofa and two armchairs from my grandmother (I think) which is still certainly going strong, even if it is a rather vivid floral pattern....

A magician was practicing a new spell by turning his family into a three piece suite.

Sadly, he then forgot the spell to turn them back again.

So, the family were rushed off to hospital, and he went to visit them in the evening and asked the doctor how they were.

The doctor replied "Oh, they are very comfortable"
