I was driving an empty panel van though the snow (Westcott, Surrey) when four lads standing at the side of the road pelted the van with snowballs BOOM BOOM BOOM, the sound echoed through the van scaring the spit out of me. I stopped the van. The kids froze briefly and then took off running, I caught the slowest one who fell to the ground in the snow crying "It wasn't me mister" I slapped him on his ear feeling as though I was handing on a chalice that was passed to me when I was his age. I got back to the van and continued on my way. I remember when I was a kid that part of the thrill of cherry knocking or whatever was the fear you might be caught so I had played my part in this ongoing saga.
That's assault you mug.

When I was at school in 70's, I was a bit of a wimp, single kid brought by single mother, back in the seventies before it was fashionable to be a single mum. Anyway I got bullied a bit by yobbos at school who where just vile, to me, other kids and teachers, it was a bit miserable, but when I left it was forgotten about and that was that.

Fast forward to about 1999 when Friends Reunited was very popular, I logged on to the site out of curiosity to see what was what, and nothing all that much interested me on it, so I forgot about it. About two years later, I got a message from someone via the site that had been at my school, it was a long letter about what this lad had been doing since leaving our school and that he was now a social worker helping prisoners rehabilitate at Wormwood Scrubs prison. The point of his message was to apologise to me for being one of the lads that used to bully me at school, that it bothered him for some time and that he was sorry.

I found it most odd, and whilst I remember being bullied I had absolutely no recollection of him what so ever.

So these kids, who are being a pain on the street, forget about them, ignore them, most of them will grow out of it.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. I hope you are.

A crime is a crime whether you are caught or not. The only condition that being caught changes is the punishment you recieve.

When these type of incidents happen to me i play them over time and time again in my mind. "What if i'd stood up to them"?,"what if i'd not answered them back"? Some people can blank them out permanently but i can remember them years later. I don't think that the lowlifes who gob off and look constantly for confrontations have the brain capacity to remember these incidents. Time will catch up with them, what goes round comes around.

As someone who had the pleasure of working with these types of people, unless you are quick witted enough to come up with very funny put downs that make them look like a prize tit in front of their mates I would not engage with them. They will get bored and move on if you ignore them.

As for reporting it... Well it's very likely they are know to the police/school so you probably won't get much mileage there and as for parents coming to find you, well if they do decide to leave the house (if they are home or their TV is broken and are bored) then it's highly probable they will get lost on route and find themselves in the pub or offy!

Vern, I don't really understand your use of the word 'intolerant' in this case?

Are you suggesting that her behaviour, and such behaviour of thousands like her (that makes many more thousands of normally happy people's lives a misery) is something that should be tolerated?

Yes, my vagina comment was a little OTT, but I have witnessed and dealt with first hand the wretched circus people like her create and it is no fun whatsoever for their victims. My post was born (sic) out of years of frustration, wondering why people just can't get on, and why some have to be such obnoxious twunts.

There's a difference between being gobby and sassy, and being a gobby, abusive bully, which is what the OP is describing.

Ok, so far i've ignored em, helps to have headphones in. standing in bushes with an axe collection is a bad idea it'd be fun, until i went to jail.
almost worth it.
but no i'm doing the ignore thing, i shant however ignore them swearing in front of my young children. if that happens i'll be phoning the police.

The other option about informing schools is an idea.

One of our local schools had an issue with misbehaving, vandalism and shoplifting at a couple of local shops.

New Head mistress..........

Chose a nice cheap uniform code that could be sourced for a few quid, and enforced it.

Then used "Secret Shoppers" a group of locals and parents who would simply be in the troubled areas and phone the School. Also had a line set up to report any misbehaviour in uniform to the School Teacher would then arrive and identify the miscreants, with the local Police involved where necessary

Within six months all the problems were resolved !
