Afternoon people.

I have decided i am enjoying getting back into cycling so I am looking to upgrade my secondhand GIANT hybrid bike. I am looking to spend £250 - £300 on a new bike and hope that this will get me something reasonably relaible and well built do the daily commute and weekend rides with my little boy. I have had a brief look around (trying to avoid Halfords) and i keep coming back to FELT cycles. Although a little out of my price range i have seen a FELT QX65 for sale within my budget sold as new but as a 2010 model. Would anyone have any information on this model or an opinion on Felt bikes generally ?

Thanks

Much the same as any other, tbh. Buy one if you like the colour, the shape, the spec and if you can get it for a good price.

I very nearly bought a Felt a couple of years ago, but having never had a Felt before I emailed them about weight limits, (I'm a big lad you see), and they said, (then at least), that they impose a 16 stone weight limit on their frames, so that ruled it out for me and I bought a Cannondale instead that doesn't have any such restrictions.

[EDIT] of course they may now match their rivals by not imposing limits, or it may have been particular to the AR2 model I was looking at, but worth checking out if weight is an issue, or completely ignore me if you're a racing snake.

Felt makes some great bikes. My LBS stocks them and loads of guys in my club, including me, have one. They're well made, good value, look great and you can see the attention to detail and care in their assembly. I have a green 2011 F85 with a few upgrades and absolutely love it; so much so that I have no desire to buy any other bike! I haven't had any problems with mine, but by all accounts Felt stand by their products and have a great customer service reputation. There's a Felt specific forum on the roadbikereviews site.

You can see the full spec of the 2010 QX65 at http://2010.feltracing.com/International/2010-Product-Catalog/QX-/QX-Series/QX-65.aspx

I am drawn maintly to the felt as they look very smart and i have not seen any on the road either. Being an old model and virtually nil stock i am limited on colour, but i guess being a 2 year old model it will be a lot cheaper and a bargain but compared to its original price tag. Being 6'5 i guess i will be looking at there 58cm frame too.

6'5" maybe a little big for a 58cm frame dependent on your inside leg measurement, your reach and torso length. Ask for a bike fit from where you buy the bike. I am just over 6'3" and a 58cm is about as small as I would want to go.

hmmmmm, now you have me thinking. Unfortuneately the biggest felt frame is 58cm and the cycle is not in my LBS. My inside leg is 35 inches so im more torso than leg and i am quiet comfortable on my 23" giant frame at the mo. Looks like i need a bike fit !?
