Cracking a solo.
Your viewpoint is the same as saying a women is at fault for being raped because she wore a short skirt. (Although the event is different with huge similarities to your viewpoint its very much the same on the scale of stupid) In explanation the cyclists swore= short skirt then brake test= rape. In case that was no clear. Moronic right? Same as your viewpoint. I used this example as the situation is very much the same just different in act. In essence to exaggerate so the picture becomes more clear and/or understandable.
Sure your entitled and no opinion is wrong but they sure can be ignorant or witless.
Could you explain that again please, it's a treat to see this level of stupid, and I don't want to pass up the opportunity to see it again if possible.

Answer= Spread
Sure you can say your view but its your ignorance which is causing you to expect no one to challenge your judgement or even question it. Its nothing to do with that your judgement fell out the norm.
In-fairness you judgement was poor, I just happen to be the one saying. All a bit of victim blaming. I think most are ignoring as it tends to reach a point and then circle, although someone could share the same judgement however nothing was said.

Wow. That's pretty special.

Without properly joining in, I can understand the driver's 'annoyance' at being shouted at.

He most likley didn't think he had done anything wrong - hence his response when 'called out'!

On the other hand, he did drive a bit close. At a pinch point further accentuating the porblem. I think from memory, roof down? Shouting in the manner of the video would not have been my approach

Funnily enough, (roof up) I made a legal and safe left turn and slowed to a crawl for a severe speed bump, this apparently inconvenienced a jogger who took a similar approach to the cyclist in this instance. I may point out, that the jogger caught me up! At his normal jogging speed - I simply got in his way by not wrecking my car at a speed bump - he took the Approach of the cyclist in this vid.

Few expletives later and guess what, I put the window down and asked him if he wanted to repeat what he had said - he chose not to and I drove off pleased that I had taken the high(er) moral ground.

I chose not to swear back - or escalate the issue. Escalation rarely turns into the correct option - especially with the benefit of hindsight! In the case of the vid, it was too close. The driver's actions thereafter did surprise me (for a hairdresser) although his driving should have told the cyclist what sort of person he would most likley be.

I know it is often a knee jerk reaction etc and sometimes pure instinct, but I have learned on my bike to only ever shout or make a scene to AVOID an incident. I was 'taught' once that a 'HEADS UP' or similar shout to attract attention is sooooooo much better than a 'STUPID F**KER' when almost knocked off and the idiot has no idea whay you are manic.

Anyway, that is my 2p worth

Here's the thing you let them go every time and you don't get the arguments, the arguments you see on cyclists videos, they only really come when you challenge the bad driving, you keep letting them go you wont get the arguments. You try to challenge the the behaviour and I don't mean just knocking on the window, I mean even just exclaiming woah when a car gives you no room or using an airzound and you get a torrent of abuse, threats, intimidation. The kind of people who put cyclists lives at risk in this way are the type of people who will threaten you, physically try and harm you etc etc, if you never challenge them though they just keep bullying people on the road you challenge them and of course that's when you get the problem, some of us ride through areas and on badly designed roads where this kind of poor driving by aggressive dangerous drivers (and to make a sweeping generalisation mostly men 30-45) is pretty common and to be honest it gets a little grating at times

It's my video.

I know I shouldn't have shouted, and that it contributed to it, although it doesn't excuse the driving. I thought the driver was aborting the overtake when he slowed for the speedbump, and was surprised when he cut in front afterwards.

There was about 10 of talking afterwards, and we exchanged details. Some other cyclists stopped to say they had seem him driving dangerously (although didn't see the collision), I tried to get their details, but the driver sent them away. He said I pulled out in front of him and I should have left stopping room, it was all my fault and he's going to sue me for the mirror. Made me realise there's no point trying to argue, just exchange details and move on.

I stupidly had the camera set for very bright conditions after using it snowboarding, had to tweak the lighting at the expense of quality to make it somewhat visible.

Was going to say I thought there was a Damo Doublemint on this forum

How is your hand? If its fine, then I'm glad he lost his mirror. If its not, put a claim in against him. I'd be very surprised if you didn't win both cases easily, and perhaps then the message will sink in for him - I doubt it though.
