Sometime last year, a chap from another company on my office development cornered me to ask about bikes and commuting to work. He only lives a few miles away so subsequently got himself a second hand Marin MTB.
Roll on a year and a bit later he grabs me again and said that his bike shop said he needs a new chain and cassette and the gears sorted. I mentioned that he should buy the items and do it himself. He gave one of those blank stares. So I said if he get's the components I will do it for him.

So he got the new bits and one lunch time (I had bought some tools in) I showed and helped him change the components over. I also indexed the gears and tightened the brakes. He was surprised at how relatively easy it was.

He wanted to give me money for my trouble, but I said don't be silly, just buy me a pint one day.

Well a few weeks later, he knocks on my office door and gave me a pressie.

Ohhhhh but now I know there's another chapter to "On The Road Bike" Way to reward people who buy books around the time they're released, Ned!

What a nice gift.

I didn't know there was another Ned Boulting book, I enjoyed the Yellow Jumper one.

All good positive karma for both of you.

I really enjoyed the Ned Boulting book. There's a few stories about Boardman which made me laugh out loud. Slightly London Centric but I can forgive it as it was amusing.
