My 15 yo went on a school trip recently and I found out via her facebook page that some of the boys on the trip basically wrecked the lights/wardrobe, etc and right down to taking the batteries out of the TV remote. They seemed to be revelling in their destruction, I hope I have made my feelings clear to her about disregarding others property - although she wasn't involved in this.

Slightly off topic but I do really hate the way the word "rape" has been hijacked for happenings such as this: Facebook rape, room rape, Twitter rape.... etc.

Midless and disrespectful demeaning of victims of real rape!!!

At Sainsbury's, Regent road, Salford, some chav stole my bike light, rooted through my panniers (they had nothing valuable in them, so I just locked them to the bike), and damaged my spokes. But it turns out they don't have video cameras at the bike stands, which renders them useless! I asked them to email me when they have installed them, but they can't be bothered and want me to phone from time to time to check! No thanks, I'll use Morrisons instead where it's much busier and near a shopping centre (Eccles). they should have installed video cameras in the first place with all the money they make! I used to use Sainsbury's for much of the weekly shop, but they have lost my custom, I won't be using them again. If anyone else shops at that particular Sainsbury's, I would advidce against it, as this is the second time my bikes have been tampered with, had spokes broke on other bikes (probably trying to remove the wheels asthey were quick release), and there are a lot of thieving chavs that shop there.

I agreed with that sentiment myself, and this came up in conversation.

In fact the dictionary definition of rape is:

rape

noun, verb, raped, rap·ing. –noun 1. the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. 2. any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person. 3. statutory rape. 4. an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside. 5. Archaic . the act of seizing and carrying off by force.

So versions four and five count in such cases.

However I reckon it's more that they just find the use of the word in that context funny, because it's so strong.
