and I really feel like crying
cos it takes so long to dry 'em
that tomorrow I might have to get the train

;):rain::bicycle::rain::cry::hugs:

oh bugger. the first time in ages I didn't bother to put the tarp back on  (no indoor storage)

at least I have a chance to try those Salmon Kool Stops on the steel rims now

Ehh....? Are you for real? Don't be such a wuss. A little water never hurt a bike or cyclist. Just be sure when it's dry to lightly spray nuts or bolts with GT85 so the heads don't rust. Make sure your chain is adequately lubed but not with GT85.

They'll dry faster in the whirlwind of your pedalling frenzy to work. If the saddle is wet put an Asda bag over it ;)

Steel rims, ooh hoo, great stuff, I remember as if it was yesterday my cousin gathering speed down a hill, brakes full on, missing the sharp right and going straight down a handy alley. We heard the clatter of tin bins being rolled (remember them) and some muffled cursing.

Ah betty - a plastic bag and some waterproof trousers should sort you out!!
Otherwise just be like me and walk around with lycra clad wet bum syndrome -I don't think I have any shame though!!

I second GT85 on the nuts and bolts to prevent rust

Let's get this straight, you're not going to ride your bike tomorrow because it got wet today?

Commuting types are pretty straightforward aren't they?

It's a joke. A parody of McArthur Park. Because I left all my bikes out last night and it popped into my head.

Yes of course I will ride in tomorrow.

Sheesh! Does tight lycra cut off the blood to the sense of humour gland?

Now I'm with you, humour works on me but it has to be a bit less subtle than referring to a song that I don't really like or is not that familiar to me

Carry on!

Agree....you need to hear the song, otherwise this is the thread of a certifiable loon . Just to explain it alll.....

vs the original song.......

Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again

Keep up at the back, even I got it.

Couple of good tips came out though. Mine is tied to railings during the day so gets soaked now and then. GT85 I have, but Salmon Kool Stop - are these particularly good for wet weather then? Worth the cost?

hee hee - sometimes I forget most people have more tasteful music collections than me

That song is used to great effect - well, to effect anyway - in the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert stage show. Trust me, once you heard it sung by Jason Donovan in front of a flashing pink bus surrounded by dancing men dressed as cupcakes...well it tends to stick in your head!

And talking of gaudy colours, the Salmon Kool Stops are recommended in a few internet forums so I'm giving them a shot on my retro rims as it's the easiest upgrade to start with. I can't say from my own experience if they work as I'm still playing with getting the brakes set up (I'm new to calipers), but once I've tried them a few times I'll post up how I found them.
