sometimes there's a very good reason for being in primary...

Just after a junction on my way into work the lane widens to the left for a bus stop and curves round to the right. Just after 7am I was cycling along exactly in the middle of the left hand lane when I heard the usual sound of a held-up motorist deliberately revving his engine behind, the driver overtakes close, swings back in, promptly thuds into the last of a series of huge potholes and hits the kerb.

Meanwhile I carry on along my carefully plotted pothole avoiding route.

Maybe the pillock will learn to look where he is going...

Yeah I won't dispute this. After 4 poxy close passes at a bottleneck at Stratford (in the pouring rain) the other day I though f this get into effing primary to stop these comedians doing this.

I did learn from the departed BentMikey.

Bm dead?

Hey Hack, here's one for you, me heading up the West side of the Bow flyover, back wheel ain't right, oh yes, a flat just as I nearly readhed the top and flat like a pancake at the top, dare not stop and had to ride it down the other side as slow as I dare trying not to fall off, yikes

no harm done it seems and I got to fix it in the expensive light of the Porsche showroom

two in five days, one more to go presumably

sundry piece of junk metal

I had one last year when my chain broke a quarter of the way up so I had to stop and then walk back.Managed it ok not worth walking up.I was heading towards Aldgate.

They've altered the road layout on part of my commute with the addition of a central refuge for peds - only a lot of the drivers don't realise this... and you can guess what happens. They swing out to overtake me, then realise there's bollards looming towards them and dive back in across me. It's become the haireiest part of the whole commute.

And so it shall be

the third rear flat within a week, just before the lights onto the Green Man roundabout, twin puncture but nice and close together and covered with one medium size patch, something large right through the centre of the tyre

fixed on some paving on the side of the roundabout, and yes, in rather heavy snow

a tyre I've thought in its prime is now being viewed with some suspicion, that said, all three seem to be a result of something sturdy punching stright through, a proper hole every time, all three in the same quarter of the wheel

ah well, practice makes pretty bloody good

what happened to Bm where, I thought that bloke had hippo hide, bullet proof, who upset him?

It's a long story but looks like he got fed up with the moderators and trolls.

Why not carry spare tubes?

I do, one anyway, only the last one is punctured and waiting for repair

I only carry them for emergencies anyway, I'm a dab hand at a repair

and it's cheaper

On a similar note... is it just me or are potholes particularly bad at the moment?

I mean, I know they get worse with the bad weather, but there are some roads which are shockingly awful.

Also... am a little sad to hear BM has gone.
