On a similar note... is it just me or are potholes particularly bad at the moment?

One morning this week I saw a small article on the local London TV news about the number of potholes at the moment. Apparently it's the weather - water gets into the edges, freezes, expands, etc. Apparently there's something like 250,000 per year in London and it costs about £80 per pothole repair.
