Songs that make you realise you're in love

  1. At the risk of starting a slightly slushy thread...

Ok, so I'm sitting here working and 'For All We Know' by the Carpenters comes on the radio.

    Did it for me!

    Oh God, where to begin....
Probably most of the ones I've been listening to lately, to be honest.
'Take a chance on me' by Abba
'Open your heart' and 'Fascination' by Human League
    'Torch' by Soft Cell

This has the potential to be the slushiest thread ever...;)

There's a Divine Comedy rendition of a poem by Wordsworth called "Lucy". Quite sad, but sums up a lot of feelings...

The first time ever I saw your face,
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless sky, my love
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move through my hands
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I know our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time, my love

The first time ever I saw your face

Thank goodness other people have tunes too - I thought I was 'posting for a duck' (i.e. zero replies) there! ;)
  6. Galaxia, by Moonman. It's a little known trance tune, but very heart-warming.

I should pass on this as I'm too grizzled to get slushy but I've always liked 'even if' by Led Zeppelin because it's never struck me as corny/cheese/buttock clenchinglingly bad like some others which have not stood the test of time.

"Let's Stay Together" Al Green and "All these Things" by Aaron Neville are both tunes special to myself and the missus.

I found it a very uplifting rendition Arch. "Liberation" is an excellent album, as is "Promenade", I thought there must be more people who appreciate N. Hannon esq.

As for a song - The Smiths "The boy with a thorn in his side".

None. There are some great love songs but I can honestly say none that make me "realise" I am in love.

Good call on the Reverend Al Green though, that man could sing the phone book and make it sound like a love song. 'Belle' is up there for me as one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
