Well I've just finished putting together my new Thorn Sherpa and now I can't wait to get touring this summer! Definately pleased with my decision over a LHT. Thanks to everyone on this board who have written about these bikes and helped me in choosing one.

Just gotta get the steerer tube chopped down once I'm happy with it. Took longer to get the bags to fit than get the thing assembled out the box! Damn fiddly ortlieb clips!

very nice i have one myself excellent bike loaded up bit of a beast on hills but i guess that's a
lot of down to the pilot.did you proofhide your saddle make sure you do and i always stick a plastic bag under the saddle ,brooks saddles dont like getting soaked.
anyway enjoy your new baby super bike, concider putting a nice set of slicks on her when your not touring you will
be in for a surprise.

Funnily enough the last thing I did was move the seat forward to experiment and wasn't happy with it but couldn't be bothered to move it back. As for the weight, I was pleasantly surprised as I thought a steel frame would be a lot heavier, but its actually not too bad. The only tour I've done so far is the Camino De Santiago last summer which I did on an old POS front sus halfords jobbie with about 18 (almost working) gears, so I'm looking forward to the plusses of a "proper" tourer. Just gotta count down the days of my resignation period until I can start touring properly!

Good to see a manufacturer supplying bikes with plenty of bar height adjustment by providing decent length of steerer tube. Short steerer tubes have put me off buying so many bikes.

Looks very nice apart from the amber-walled tyres - but I have an irrational dislike of those

You're very tall.........looks to be a very large frame and still lots of seat pin showing.

Enjoy! :becool:

Practical it may be, but I'm thinking of reporting you to the Advertising Standards people for your thread title.

Eye of the beholder!! ;)

I do think Thorns have a functional, utilitarian beauty.
