Hello Tourers,

Last summer I went on an almost week long touring holiday through Wales. Here's the route I took for anyone interested:

The weather wasn't terrible and I quite enjoyed it overall. One of the things that did disappoint me however was the poor sleep I was getting. I bought a Klymit Static V2 sleeping mat after seeing it get some good reviews. I sleep on my sides but I'd find myself constantly rolling as the nights wore on and by the time I'd wake up both my hips would be quite sore.

I'm assuming I need to buy something else, perhaps something thicker. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm considering going further in to Wales this year and would to be able to look forward to going to bed rather than dreading it! Thanks

P.S - Here's one of the photos from last year's trip for good measure, taken on August 8th on the B4519 just outside Llanganmmarch Wells

Exped do a great down filled mat which I can recommend

I find to get the most comfort you need to blow them up so they are hard as this stops your pressure points from resting on the ground.
But if you do blow them up hard then there is a risk is that they'll start to delaminate sooner rather than later.

I have a cloud base, the pros are that it is tiny when packed and very comfortable, however, it has no insulating properties at all - you can get cold on even a warm night.
