Sorrento cycling

Just wondering if anyone has done any cycling around the Sorrento area? I'm off there on holiday in a few weeks and debating whether to hire a road bike for a couple of days.

That's what I thought, but aiming to get off the tourist routes if possible.

Whilst on hols I have seen numerous "roadies" between the Amalfi Drive and Sorrento, especially between San Pietro / Sant' Agnello / Colli de Fontanelle.

Early 90's since a cycled in that area, back then I found the coast road no a very pleasant ride, due to heavy traffic with the road being narrow and not being in very good repair however I did find that what roads that headed inland were not to bad, but they did have lots of long zig-zags up and downs and quite steep in places, but that was over 20 years ago I guess the roads have much improved there by now.

I have been there a number of times (never by bike). The roads have improved a bit, but they are also busier than ever. The coastal roads are suicidal, even in Spring and Autumn, with loads of mopeds with riders who seem tired of life. The inland road is marginally better.
