In your opinion of course. I enjoy driving as much as I enjoy cycling (or more when I'm at the bottom of a big sodding hill). If we all liked and spent our money of the same things we'd live in a dull world. I've taken the p!*s in this thread but it is in jest. If it suits Simon's needs and he's got it for a song good for him, I wouldn't buy one (but then I don't like pistons). My brother is thinking about buying a 2+ grand guitar and I thinks he's mad spending that amount when he good buy a very good one for 600, but at the end of the day it's his cash and his decision.

Central locking - tick. Climate control - tick plus roof down. Heated electric seats - tick. Cruise - tick. Stereo/GPS - tick. etc, etc.

As much as I like your Saab, It was all about warranty with me I've got stung before on a 7k cars clutch going within 3 months of buying it and it was classed as wear and tear so wasn't covered (read the small print of any bought or insurance warranty supplied) and most cars over 1600cc have Dual mass flywheels now which mean a grand bill if it goes

Since I started cycling my perceptions and desires have completely changed. I would rather an S-Works Tarmac than my BMW, and the car in the first post looks appealing, which for me is pretty shocking! Add to that I hate putting fuel in my two cars so much so that the diesel version with 79mpg looked fantastic.

I like it. Simple, functional, French (with a bit of Romanian), buttons to run. Good call on getting the central locking though, a four door car without it would be a proper pain in the derriere.

My four door 2CV had central locking - I could reach all four doors from the drivers seat.

With a bit of luck it will be mechanically similar to one of these:

We bought one new in 198?.
In 90,000 miles before we sold it on, it went through just:
two sets of tyres on front, one on the back
one new battery
one new clutch
wiper blades

Great little car.

Granted, it's done 40 000 miles, which for a modern turbo-diesel is pretty much run in...
