I'm looking at purchasing 1st road bike since I was a teenager. Things have come a long way since then!. Looking at purchasing through the Cycle to Work scheme and have a budget of around £650-£700. I've looked at a couple of bikes

Secteur Sport
Trek 1.2

Can anyone give any advice on these two bikes. Both seem to get a good review from owners. I'll probably be using for Sunday morning rides, 60miles - 100miles rides occasionally which I have currently been doing on my MTB with slick tyres. Also use for commute during the summer months. Am I likely to see much performance increase by using a road bike, ie extra mph, etc. I also live in Kent on top of the North Downs with hills in every direction straight out of the front door so will probably go for the triple.

Also, on my budget, are there any other bikes that I should be looking at that I have miissed that owners feel I should try out as well.

Thanks for your help.

Nope, I can't do it.

I might be biased but I love my Secteur Sport. There's been a few threads on them recently, Mark. Try the following...

To be honest, I'm almost convinced about the Secteur. Just wondered if anyone had an opinion on the Trek (or other) that would somehow make me think again.
