Fair enough. I have a Sonos Beam with a SW. On its own the Beam is ok but it's definitely better with the SW hence my recommendation for the Playbase which pretty good as a stand alone (but I think discontinued now). Would you consider a wall mounted Bluetooth SW if space is that tight?

Yes I would.
Open to all options now.
Don't get me wrong, I have space for the SW.
I've downsized to this 'granny flat' which suits me for many reasons but im used to a 18' x 15' lounge.
I'm about to throw some money at this room just trying to get it right (whatever 'right' is).

Just a bit of lateral thinking. How about this, but not installing the rear speakers? It's got an unusually small sub because its two drivers sit back to back.

Thanks. TBH im trying to work that out. It seems to be........
A sound bar
A sub woofer which is 60 CM tall
2 separate speakers.
I can't see a width for the actual bar but will look again.

The sub's way smaller than that Dave, it's 2x8" opposing speakers in a very modestly sized cabinet, so maybe 10" tall or so. The bar's about 120cms or so, looking at mine, which is the 990D but the only changes were to the sub. Have a squint on the Samsung UK site for definitives.

BTW the sub and the surrounds are wireless, and the latter will wall hang quite easily.

Sorry to go on but the photo shows
The SB,
1 x larger unit (SW?)
2 small units.
The blurb says it measures 60 cm but doesn't say what that 60cm refers to.

Bought a tv that I thought had the best sound so no need for a soundbar. I think it’s marketing telling people you ‘need’ one.

Also dont forget that you can put the sub anywhere in the living room it doesn't need to be next to the TV, you could put it next to the wall down the side of the sofa. That's the bonus of the wireless ones.

It's a matter of physics, modern thin profile TVs don't have good sound.

The problem isn't solved with better TVs either, as they assume a soundbar at minimum.

Of course. But I prefer a thicker tv and no soundbar. The drive for a thinner tv is not relevant to me.

Fair point, but my point still stands that yous get better sound with a soundbar as even the thickest TV doesn't have room for decent sized speakers. Same reason that laptops sound terrible.

For genuinely good build in sound you need to go back to the old CRT TVs, typically the Sony's from the early 2000s.

No problem. Actually the soundbar dimensions are on there, but confusingly labelled:

Product Dimensions (mm):
W 1232 x H 71 x D 138

At that sort of price it's well worth the spend.

When you say "at that sort of price", what price do you see it as ?
