My speed is deceptive I'm slower than I look
I have a Triban 3 (6months old)love it, however recently it made some weird clunks around the crank and bottom bracket area when going at a decent speed 15-18mph(decent for me) .

Last night I was out and particularly in the mid gears(2nd ring 3-5) when pedalling hard it sounded like someone was hitting the frame with a hammer scared me big time.

I had taken it to Decathlon 2 weeks ago and they had serviced it replaced the chain, rear mech and the bottom bracket(as it had made few clunks ) all this no charge except the chain and mech due to wear and tear.(excellent service)

Is it something I'm doing wrong', what could be cause.?

I commute 12 miles a day and take it out about 40 miles over the weekend but that's it.
Hope someone can advise

sounds like it stems from bottom bracket does it happen in time with the pedal strokes or ,as the wheels turn ?if the latter then obv its hubs not bb ,frewheel down a hill and if it still happens then it cant be bb as the pedals arent moving
need more info

Ive had similar, I'd tend to narrow it down to two areas..BB or freehub.
Certainly on my old Bianchi, the freehub would slip, ironically when it was quite new, then it stopped and never came back. A momentary slip when applying pressure would give quite a bang, but because it was only momentary, I didn't really sense it through the pedals.
Otherwise, ball bearings binding together in the BB (or anywhere else for that matter) tend to 'crack' as they release from each other.

If its what I think it is the Pawls inside the hub weren't engaging the drive smoothly, my bianchi/campy wheels have done similar I'm not sure what the answer is though

Every time I ride near a Trban 3 I hear the same clunking, clicking bag of spanners sound, I thought it was just normal.

It's not normal, a well fettered bike should be near silent as should the rider. No panting allowed

I recently had to replace the BB on my beloved, but poorly treated hybrid after 20 years. Surely modern BB;s are at least as strong? Sounds like either Triban owners are way too strong or there is a problem. Isn't there a Triban owners clud around?
