Epsom is not a good place to start, going straight up that hill not warmed up was pretty tough if you'd just got of the train (people who live in Yorkshire have no sympathy, I'm sure)

The climb up into Reigate almost killed me as I'd come straight off the train, was wearing too many layers and had to circumcise my helmet by removing the cover but it did get easier(ish) after breaking out the jelly babies a massive four miles into the ride

My bike is the tiny, non-matching one at the back and I discovered that the empty bottle cage is the perfect size for holding a large tea and handy if you're on the train and need a spare hand.

Locations are perfect (I must nearly pass your place on my Windsor-via-Hounslow route). You should also have been invited to join our bizarrely titled conversation <- click that link to join in.

If we get some nice weather, it would be good to go on another cake pootle. The Kingston area is very good for flat roads and decent cakes, but it's going to layers of clothes unless we wait until April.

Are you planning any more pootle-themed rides soon? I'm not an SW-er (NW1) but pretty sure I can find a train in that direction. Just (finally!) bought my own road bike and a bit of gentle pootling seems like a good way to begin!
