Its like I always say about anecdotes without proof.

However I do know that an elderly man was knocked down in Shirley High street a couple of years back and it broke his hip. There is an article on the paper's website somewhere..

Found it.

It doesn't help that the road has a high frequency of traffic islands (pinch points). I've lost count of the number of times cars have almost clipped me at those points on shirley high street.

That said nobody should be doing over 5mph on a pavement, let a lone 20mph!
