Has any body done the South Downs way. Tomorrow we are thinking of taking a unfit new bie near the Amberly section for a bit more of a challenge.
Are there many steep climbs

yes did it in 2 days earlier this summer including the seven sisters. Wet and windy all the way. Hills are a killer

Yep did it all in one go last year. Not recommended the ups get steeper and the downs get dangerous as you get tired. I found it a bit tedious too, not at all technical, just up and down all the way. I must admit I've been back since and the view is nice towards the eastern end but once you see it. I wouldn't do it again but don't let that put you off, do it over 2 or 3 days and enjoy it.
